--- title: >- Occupy Gotham date: 2011-12-20 22:38 modified: 2011-12-20 22:38 lang: en authors: rysiek tags: - ancient - culture - propaganda status: published pinned: false --- I would like to direct your attention to a ["Dark Knight Rises" trailer](http://blogs.wsj.com/economics/2011/12/19/occupy-gotham-dark-knight-rises-trailer-suggests-inequality-theme-in-batman/), including this interesting quote: > "There’s a storm coming, Mr. Wayne… when it hits, you're all going to wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us." One doesn't have to be a mastermind to spot that this seems to be a very clear reference to the [Occupy movement](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occupy_movement), so vocal lately about the inequalities between the rich, and the remaining [99%](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/We_are_the_99%25). Well, maybe "the mainstream culture is finally getting upt to speed with the Occupy movement"? Unfortunately, the quote is uttered by Catwoman -- definitely not a protagonist in the film; and it's the (apparent) main antagonist that tells Gotham City dwellers to "take over their city". Could it be that somebody decided to use the Hollywood propaganda machine against Occupy?.. ---- ***Update 20.07.2012:*** Apparently [I was right](http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Hollywood/2012/07/18/dark-knight-rises-review-batman-bain-ows) -- and it's a [part of a trend](http://www.guardian.co.uk/culture/2011/nov/24/frank-miller-hollywood-fascism), too.
